Re: The New America Socialist or Communist
WE, THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in order to form a more perfect Union, by, for and of the PEOPLE, shall elect and convene a NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY beginning on July 4, 2012 in the City Of Philadelphia.
They plan to elect delegates by direct vote, one male and one female per each of the 435 Congressional Districts. The office would be open to any United States citizen over the age of 18. The 870 delegates would then compose a petition of grievances that would be non-partisan.
The posted “demands” are only a working list of “suggestions,” however. Number one and two are a ban on private contributions to politicians seeking or holding federal office and instead public financing for campaigns, and a constitutional amendment to reverse the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court.
The list then goes on to suggest single-payer national health care, immediate passage of the DREAM Act, a jobs plan, a deficit reduction plan and recalling military personnel at all non-essential bases.
The movement would also reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act, increase regulation and increase taxes by way of eliminating corporate tax loopholes.

Re: The New America Socialist or Communist
My memories of the old Soviet Union, a supposedly socialist country, are those seeing the endless lines to buy goods like clothes, shoes (especially if they are imported from the western capitalist countries)… and even toilet paper rolls made in the Soviet Union. It was all the results of the absence of capitalism and discouraging those who'd make an effort to be an entrepreneur, be it as small as it was permitted at that time, to run his/her own business. Now, the living standards in the modern Russia are much, much better. It is only because the country has allowed Capitalism to exist. Any objectively thinking folks should agree with me on that one.
Isn't it ironic that all those "occupy" protests are happening during the presidency of a supposedly one of the most liberal president, Obama, who actually, in my opinion, is not? I still like Obama, because he has done a pretty good job in fighting with Al Quida terrorists than W in his two terms. But in terms of his domestic economy policies, he has failed my expectations. Nothing has improved during his presidency. And, please, I don't want to hear that he can't accomplish on that front because those republicans don't allow him to do that. What kind of the president he is if he can't convince the senate and congress, elected by the people btw, with his economic plans? I am awfully sorry Mr. Obama, but we need CHANGE in the economic situation that we are right now.
One of the problems in our society in terms of current economic situations is because the average folks, the majority so to say, are brain-washed with all those TV reality shows and the comedians and the "so-called" independent documentary filmmakers like Michael Moore (the hypocrite of all time) who act as if they are the pundits and smart and know what to do... But I have to admit that sometimes some of them make more sense than those from ridiculously biased networks like CNN and FOX.
There is a sinister trend in the general public opinion to hate the establishment. I think it is all based on what one feels rather than to think. That is why Cain is so popular now. He is cool, and he is so against the establishment in the most people minds. He wants to revolutionize the system. Oh boy, he is so cool (just being sarcastic). Well, I think he indeed is cool, but he is also a buffoon and a phony. His 9-9-9 plan was developed by someone else, yet in the public opinion it is him. The plan by itself is a disaster -- it will damage the middle class, the poor and big companies like GM and many other companies who don't pay taxes to sustain their businesses. But he entertains the public so efficiently without any substance whatsoever. That's all it's matter in the presidential election. Be a good entertainer rather than a problem solver (like Mitt Romney) and people will buy it. Why? Because it's on TV sitcoms and everywhere except those parts on the Internet and newspapers where one actually has to read about it and make up his/her opinion based on that.

Re: The New America Socialist or Communist
Evgeny, if public is so brainwashed, why should there be a democracy? I don't share your disdain for our fellow citizens :-) Our government is designed not to solve problems. It's designed to have endless debates and slowly raise towards consensus. Power is divided and divided powers are balanced against one another. It works worse if the public is divided and elects a divided government. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Re: The New America Socialist or Communist
See, Tea Party hates big business too!
Маруся, не беспокойся... Всё будет хорошо, я узнавал.
We’ll be just fine. We’ll elect one-party government, doesn’t
matter which one, and you’ll have more change then you could stomach. This
system been in crisis before, each time like never before, and it’s been doing
just fine. No need to panic. Ultimately, the rich will be soaked and the poor
will be fed. It won’t be immediate, it won’t be clean, but it will happen.

Re: The New America Socialist or Communist
Lol...Mark you still failed to produce two anti-bank posters. Excercise in futility, huh? Oh yeah, look there is one in that sea of anti-Hitler-Communist posters somewhere...where's Waldo? But thanks for another chuckle!
PS. I think you did find ONE black Tea Partier though...looks like Herman Cain's cousin? Lol...

Re: The New America Socialist or Communist

This one demonstrates the right wing ignorance perfectly. The sign is stupid on arrival. Russia is not socialist, they are capitalist. Soviet Union was socialist, but it's no longer, so it couldn't have "called". Learn the facts of life, beggar...

We really need some fresh blood here. Our discussions seem to fall into the same mold all the time...

Re: The New America Socialist or Communist
Orkster:Facts cast shadows, shadows form perceptions. Perceptions change. Cats chase mice it’s a fact. But your attitude towards it may depend on whether you are a cat or a mouse. If someone works hard and is doing just fine, why would they want to change the system? And if someone has the power to change the system, who can blame them for changing it to their favor?
But no one who works hard is doing just fine right now. With the soon-to-be $20T debt hanging over the currency value, and the ponzied banking system, even those who have good jobs and good income (like myself) understand the inherent risks present. This is NOT fine. Those who cheated the system and got away with it are doing fine, I suppose, but they should be in jail. What other shadows of perceptions could there be?
